This is a comparative study for the student affairs administration in both
the formal university system and the open and distance learning system . It
reviews the historical perspective of the student affairs of the formal system
in the context of the Islamic - Arabic , European , and American experiences
. It also reviews the emergence of student affairs in the open and distance
learning system . In addition , it illustrates the organization, function , and
the influence of information and communication technology on both systems
. The study finally elaborates the role of the student affairs administration
in the development of the student character which is considered to be the
chief goal of university education through formal or open and distance
learning settings .
