The Role of the International Criminal Court in Developing Friendly Relations and Promoting International Peace and Security (Gaza Strip Case Study Since October 7, 2023)

Objectives: This research aims to examine how the International Criminal Court (ICC) contributes to the development of friendly relations among states and the strengthening of international peace and security.
Methods: The two researchers used the analytical descriptive approach and the historical approach.
Results: The two researchers concluded that the existence of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is a fundamental pillar in strengthening trust between States and in maintaining international peace and security. Preserving international peace and security, in turn, supports friendly relations among States and peoples and advances the goals of the United Nations. The genocide and war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip constitute a flagrant breach of international peace and security; prosecuting Israeli perpetrators before the ICC would contribute to restoring international peace and security and achieving sustainable justice within the international community.
Conclusions: The research showed that members of the international community must enhance their material, legal, and political support for the International Criminal Court and fully cooperate with it in conducting investigations and prosecutions. This is essential to ensuring that Israeli perpetrators are held accountable and that international peace and security are reinforced. The study also emphasized that States Parties have a duty to confront U.S. threats against the Court, in order to safeguard its independence, promote the development of friendly relations among States and peoples, and contribute to the achievement of international peace and security.
