The aim of this study is to assess the development strategies applied in
Algeria during the period 1970- 2014 and the extent of its success in achieving
its key objectives through dividing it into three phases linked to the rate of
economic growth and the rising oil prices in the international market.
The study showed that despite the large sums of money allocated,
Algerian economy is still dominated by profits from selling petrol. The recent
implementation of programs are not successful similar to those reforms
launched in the middle of the nineties. This shows that programmers are not
benefit from the past mistakes. Therefore we recommend the development of
sectorial strategies with clear objectives emphasizing the productive sectors,
innovation, and the development of the human element. This leads to build
self- development strategies in line with economic, social, religious and
cultural conditions.
