Zionist Settlement Foundations in Jerusalem: Elad Foundation as a Model
Keywords:
Zionist Settlement Foundations, Jerusalem city, religious Schools, Elad FoundationAbstract
Elad formation came as a result of the growing strength of right- wing
extremists in Israel, during the seventies and eighties of the past century,
and was accompanied by the emergence of a clear role of extremist religious
schools that produced the foundations of the settlements such as Elad, which
exceeded the government's role in settlement activity. It began settlement
building in Silwan under the supervision of David Be'eri and his gang who
were trying by all means to expel Silwan residents from their homes and
displaced them by Zionist immigrants to revive the City of David. These
activities were done for the satisfaction of God and paved the way for the
coming of Christ, the Savior, to start mythological era of happiness.
Elad receives internal support from the government and other sources.
It has strong ties with those who have the same religious and political views
toward settlement activities living in the Diaspora, particularly in the US,
especially from friends of Elad, and a number of dignitaries led by Irving
Moskowitz. Elad tried through settlement activities to Judaize the place,
history, and even human beings in Silwan. Elad looted Palestinians' properties
and displaced them by Jewish settlers using fraud and deception. Elad tried
to find the remains of the City of David in Silwan and declare explicitly that
everything found is Jewish and the remains of the City of David regardless of
scientific facts about the excavations.
Elad practices educational activities through workshops and conferences
organized by the schools inaugurated in Silwan, Jewish allegations are
exposed. It calls through media means Zionists and Christians to visit
archaeological sites in Silwan after preparing the city for tourists who paid
for their visit to archaeological sites.
