The Role of the Prevailing Political Climate in the Development of Political Awareness among Palestinian Youth (Field Study on University Students in Gaza Strip)

The study aimed to find out the role of the prevailing political climate in the provinces of Gaza, in strengthening the political awareness among Palestinian youth. The sample of the study is formed of (345) university youths from the University (of Al - Azhar, and Al - Aqsa) in Gaza Strip. The study used the questionnaire and the personal interview to get to know the role of Palestinian climate in the development of political awareness of the Palestinian university students in Gaza Strip. The study reached the following results: The total score of the role of the prevailing political climate in the development of political awareness among Palestinian university students was (66. 07 %) in a moderate level, and the results showed that the order of the degree of approval on the five key areas of the role of the political climate in the development of political awareness among Palestinian university students were as follows: the field of the positive aspects of the political climate obtained a percentage of (73. 82 %) in a high level, followed by the field of the role of the political climate in the development of political activity which got a percentage of (68. 08 %) in a moderate level, then the area of the disadvantages of the political climate which got a percentage of (66. 88 %) in a moderate level, then the field of the role of the political climate in developing the political knowledge which got a percentage of (64. 22 %) in a moderate level, among the responses of the Palestinian youth. The study found that there were no statistically significant differences between the averages of Palestinian university students’ responses towards the role of the prevailing political climate in Gaza Strip in the development of political awareness among Palestinian university students in which it’s attributed to the variables of the study (sex, marital status, cumulative average) , and the results were interpreted and discussed in the light of the rules of the study, and submitting a number of recommendations.
