Attitudes of Palestinian Consumers towards Products and Services that do not Match the Regulated Standards and Specifications in Palestine

The study reflects the attitudes of final consumers toward inferior products
and services in an attempt to investigate the process of protecting consumers
from these products and services and the managerial procedures that are
being implemented in the Palestinian market. The study, also investigated
the quality of products and quality standards versus the defected products,
damages caused by inferior products, forces that may drive these products
out of the market, and legal procedures for consumerss protection. Different
protection models were reviewed and analyzed, through review of related
literature, to identify the tools that may limit the consumption of inferior
products. A one day survey was carried out to solicit the opinion of 100
samples of the Palestinian final consumers and to measure the extent of the
Palestinian consumer awareness toward inferior products. Analysis of
collected data provided the following conclusions: There was an urgent need
for developing and improving the existing standards for consumer protection.
Other than limiting the consumption of inferior products, based on the
conclusion that the information and guidelines associated with the use of
any products or services played a major factor in the choice of purchasing
among highly educated and enlighten consumers.
