Abstract

This study investigated vaginal discharges (rutubat al- farj) and breaking or nullifying ablution (wudu’) . The researcher did not find a ruling for this issue among most jurists. Based on the four Madhaheb, and after investigating the opinions of their jurists, the researcher concluded that that secretions come from the labia do not break ablution with the consensus of the four Madhaheb. However, the vaginal secretions that come out from places other than the labia whether naturally or unnaturally break ablution as ruled by Hanafiya, Shafi’I and Hanabila. The Maliki Madhhab jurists remarked that there is a need to go in details regarding the secretions that continue around during the full timing of a prayer, half time of a prayer or most of it do not break ablution. However, they (Maliki Madhhab jurists) have two opinions regarding the secretions that continue to flow for a limited time then stop for few hours and then come back. The first one, they break ablution while the second opinion, say they do not break ablution. The researcher concluded that the vaginal secretions, in all its natural and unnatural types arising from infections, totally do not break ablution regardless whether these secretions come from between the labia or from the vagina, the fallopian tubes, the uterus, or the womb and its neck. Key words: vaginal secretions, Breaking Ablution
