Abstract

The limits of Arabic- Islamic modernity from Taha Abderrahman's point

of view are its hostile pattern and the global context which tries to keep

it away.It contains a specific Arab- Muslim dimension, which is the main

motive.Taha's style is implicit rather than explicit and based on economy

instead of prolongation.

The Moroccan describes the overall determinations of the commonly

used modernity as “objectivism” and this should not be confused with

modernity and modernization, “strategy of alternative” with “the strategy of

inception” and “the spirit of modernity” and its reality status. This confusion

in the concept is a flagrant indicator of the short comings of knowledge that

included the cognitive thought field and the reality of the Islamists together.

There is a serious process of “dropping” happened during the

application of unsuitable tools which caused many ironies such as “the say

with the inclusive outlook and the work with micromanaging outlook” and

the contradiction between the call to consider the mechanisms and the work

with the consideration of contents of the inherited speech of the mechanisms.

Taha adopted the project of “Al Jabri” as a full model. In spite of its short

coming in both methodology and knowledge, the field of reality he adopted

is accuracy in writing. He criticized “the double moral” in politics and those

who insist on mixing between public affairs and religion.

The project of Taha Abderrahmen provides us with many suggestions

to correct the path of the Arabic modernity starting with inventing new

perceptions that could restart the confidence of the Muslims in themselves

and to determine who has the right to ask “questions that is in charge”

that would help to understand many concepts modernity. There is a need to

differentiate the following three principles of modernity: the principle of

rationality, criticism and inclusiveness and its truth.

The path to modernity can be corrected if we understand the concept of

the jurisprudent philosophy, variety of ideas, translation, understanding and

renovation of the reading of the Holy Koran. Our institutions are in need to

updated and renovated.
