Abstract

Due to the great significance of human’s status In Islam, and due to the

honor he is granted, Allah Almighty has revealed to him a legislation that

will regulate and improve his life so that he may accomplish his interests

and bring rightness to his body, soul and mind. Furthermore, Allah has set

him great and accurate guidance in diet and nutrition matters.

In this research I investigated the basis of nutrition according to Qu’ran

and Sunnah. I clarified throughout the research the importance of food for

mankind according to Islam.

I also explained the philosophy of Islam in permitting certain foods and

forbidding others, and the basis of a healthy diet through Islamic regulations,

etiquette and concern, for nutrition security for both individuals and society.

Then, I have illustrated in a separated chapter Islam’s anticipation in

adopting the standard; “Turning Away from Medicine to Nutrition¢ and

considering that nutrition according to prophetic medicine is in fact remedy

to be used instead of medicines.
