Diet and Nutrition in Quran and Sunnah

Due to the great significance of human’s status In Islam, and due to the
honor he is granted, Allah Almighty has revealed to him a legislation that
will regulate and improve his life so that he may accomplish his interests
and bring rightness to his body, soul and mind. Furthermore, Allah has set
him great and accurate guidance in diet and nutrition matters.
In this research I investigated the basis of nutrition according to Qu’ran
and Sunnah. I clarified throughout the research the importance of food for
mankind according to Islam.
I also explained the philosophy of Islam in permitting certain foods and
forbidding others, and the basis of a healthy diet through Islamic regulations,
etiquette and concern, for nutrition security for both individuals and society.
Then, I have illustrated in a separated chapter Islam’s anticipation in
adopting the standard; “Turning Away from Medicine to Nutrition¢ and
considering that nutrition according to prophetic medicine is in fact remedy
to be used instead of medicines.
