Abstract

This study examined the concept of unemployment and its development

in Palestine, and showed its burden and demand gap for labor in Palestinian

labor market in 2013. It showed the characteristics of unemployment in

Palestine and their causes, and how unemployment shifts according to

Israeli policy towards the working class and the Palestinian labor market.

The phenomenon of unemployment is associated with factors that led to

its growth, especially in light of the failure of the Palestinian Authority,

lack of development planning and the failure of the economic policies of

the Palestinian Authority. The paper clarifies the effects of unemployment

in Palestine, whether political, economic, social, and psychological, and

the impact of these factors on Palestinian society. The study reviewed the

mechanisms to combat unemployment in Palestine that should be done by

short- term and long- term planning.
