Coping Techniques of Stressful Events and their Relation to Loneliness among the Elderly

This study aimed at knowing the relationship between coping styles of
stressful life events and loneliness among the elderly, and the effects of some
variables on coping styles of stressful life events, and loneliness.
The sample of the study consisted of (53) males and (47) females. The
researcher used coping styles of stressful life events scale, and loneliness
scale. The results revealed that, the elderly used several coping styles to face
stressful life events; there were significant relationship between negative
coping styles of stressful life events and loneliness. It also revealed that,
there were no significant differences in coping styles due to gender, place of
living, age, and level of education.
The results also revealed that there were significant differences in
loneliness due to gender, and there were no significant differences in
loneliness due to place of living, age, and level of education.
