This research deals with "Al- Asaker Al- Sibahiya" in Palestine in the
tenth and eleventh centuries A. H/ sixteenth and seventeenth centuries A.
D and their military and security duties such as wars, security in the areas
they reside in, escorting the Syrian pilgrims convoy and rebuffing Bedouins
tribes raids. The research mentioned the financial resources they obtained
from the land which had been given to them by state, and their role in
collecting money for the state such as taxes taken from Christian and Jews
(Jizzya) . They had done other jobs, particularly the free feeding of people
(Al- Takiya Al- Amiriyay) in Jerusalem. The paper discusses the business
activities and professions Al- Sibahiya practiced, their properties such as
houses and shops and the participation and roles of their offspring played
in the Ottoman Empire.
