Abstract

The study aims at detecting predictive ability of psychological,

social and demographic variables in mental disorder symptoms among

Yarmouk University students. To achieve the aim of the study, symptom

check list was applied on a randomly selected sample of (630) Yarmouk

University students enrolled in the second semester of the academic year

2012/ 2013. The results of the study showed that the t- score of all mental

disorder symptoms ranged between (49.14- 51.55) , and according to

the established standards all of disorders among Yarmouk University

students don’t need treatment intervention. Results also showed that

there was a significant difference in symptoms of incarnation, depression,

and sensitivity interactive due to the gender and in favor of males. All of

predictive variables significantly contributed to the explaining of variance

in mental disorder symptoms. In the light of the results equations of

linear regression analysis were derived for prediction in various mental

disorders among Yarmouk University students.
