Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the level of professional

competencies of primary mathematics teachers at Al Jafra Region- Libya in the

light of international standards and methods to promote them. The sample of

the study consists of (131) teachers and (10) educational supervisors selected

from Al- Jafra Region. To achieve the objective of the study, the researchers

developed a (33) items questionnaire distributed over (5) domains. The

researchers developed a (5) open- ended questions interview. Reliability and

validity were established for both instruments and were administrated to

the sample of the study. The findings of the study indicated a moderate level

of professional competencies of primary mathematics teachers at Al- Jafra

Region, but there is no statistically significant differences were found due to

gender, teaching experience or scientific qualification.
