The purpose of this study was to shed light on the obstacles encountered
by the students of Physical education Departments in the Palestinian
universities and colleges in the swimming courses, and to find out the role
of the variables of sex and educational institutions on the degree of these
obstacles. To achieve this, a random sample consisting of (144) students
(males and females) was selected.
Results of the study indicated that the total degree of the obstacles was
very high and reached (68%); The results also indicated that the obstacles
related to the facilities came first in a high degree (74.4%).There were also
statistical differences in the degree of the obstacles ascribed to the variables
of sex and educational institution. The researcher recommended the
following: First, establishing enclosed swimming pools in the Palestinian
Universities and Colleges. Second, paying more attention to Swimming as a
skill during the pre university period (in Schools).
