Abstract

The moderns maintained that Arab grammarians had exaggerated in

subjecting the Holy Qur’an and the Qur’anic readings to their rules. The

moderns also believed that the grammarians titled too much towards the

necessity of taking all rules from the Holy Qur’an and permitting them in

Arabic. This study examined the Arab grammarianss rules against the

environment of reciters and scholars of recitations. It was found that the

truth had been turned upside down. That is, the Arab grammarians had

taken those rules from the same environment and those rules hadn’t been

used for the sake of grammar but for the sake of serving the Qur’anic text.

The study also explored the possibility of measuring things in the Holy Qur’an

which violate the rules of Arabic grammar. It was found that their

permissibility in Arabic is only theoretical (inapplicable). They have to remain

characteristic of the Holy Qur’an. This helps in revealing stylistic features,

unlikely to be uncovered on the basis of text’s lteral meaning.
