Keywords:
Andalusian heritage, incineration, LossAbstract
This paper aims to explore a significant issue highlighted by both
ancient and modern scholars. It is the phenomenon of incineration and
loss of Andalusian heritage books. It also discusses this phenomenon from
different perspectives rather than from one perspective. In order to fulfill this
end, the paper discusses the place and impact the Andalusians attach to the
book and the extent of the spreading of books in this country. This study
focused on two aspects related to the incineration and loss of books: The first
is mentioning the references which allude to those books and the bulkiness of
the intellectual production of the Andalusian period in addition to the causes
of the loss of those books. The second is discussing the incineration of books
and manuscripts in Andalusia. The paper has presented several results, and
one of the most important is the bulkiness of intellectual legacy produced
during the Andualisian era over a period of eight centuries. This is based on
scientific facts taken from different literature and historical resources.
