Scientific Research at Al-Quds Open University: Motives and Challenges from the Perspective of Full-Time Academic Supervisors

This study aimed at figuring out the scientific research prospective at Al-
Quds Open University in North Palestine by surveying the extend of university
contribution in scientific research for the academic instructors, furthermore
to know the availability level of references . The study also aimed to show
this research productivity conducted by the instructors and summarize the
motivations that encourage the academic instructor to do research and
finalize the obstacles that discourage him from conducting scientific research
at Al-Quds Open University .
The total population of the research was 114 instructors and the sample
size was 57. Almost 50% of the Data was gathered by a questionnaire which
consisted of 66 questions. The data was statistically analyzed the results
showed that the university level of the contribution in scientific research
was high from the view point of the instructors. The study also showed that
the availability level of references was medium and the research productivity
of academic instructors was low .
The findings of the study illustrated the motivations that support the
academic instructors at Al-Quds Open University to do research and the
obstacles which discourage them .
Lastly the study gare some recommendations based on its findings for the
administration of Al-Quds Open University help it provide ways of
encouraging scientific research at the university.
