Relationship between Stressful life events and Feeling of Satisfaction in Life among Yarmouk University Students in Jordan.

Abstract

 

The study aimed at investigating the level of stressful life events and

feeling of life satisfaction and the relationship between them among a sample

of students at Yarmouk University Were chosen by stratified random sampling.

The study sample consisted of (350) male and female students enrolled in

the second semester 2012- 2013.The results showed a high level of stressful

life events, and low level of life satisfaction, and there were no significant

correlation between the two variables, except for the dimension of university

life satisfaction which was negatively correlated with stressful life events and

its dimensions.The results also showed statistically significant differences

at (α0.05) in the level of Stressful life events as a whole, academic and

psychological dimensions that were attributed to academic achievement in

favor of excellent students.In addition, differences are found in the level of

stressful life events and family, social,Political stressful events and attributed

to the level of academic achievement in favor of low achievement students.

Differences were also found in the level of life satisfaction, Social and family

satisfaction dimensions due to the level of achievement in favor of those with

excellent achievement.Moreover, no statistically significant differences were

found at the level (α0.05) in stressful life events and life satisfaction due to

gender and students› study level.
