on a sample of students from Petra University.A questionnaire was developed
for the purpose of the study, and was distributed to an Appliance Random
Sample of (450) students, it was found that a total of (416) questionnaires
were valid for statistical analysis in the second semester of 2013.Through
statistical analysis, the results showed a descending order of campus violence
factors as follows:
♦♦ The first factor of violence was the student psychological situation, Where
the study showed that mental disorders and anxiety affect the student and
lead him to violence.
♦♦ The second factor was the social differences and the varying levels of
economic status among students as a factor of campus violence. The
study showed that these differences generate a sense of social hatred
among some students concerning economic and family conditions which
sometimes lead students exercise violence.
♦♦ The third factor was favoritism in the application of university rules
(Wasta) which drives some students to feel a sense of injustice and
rebellion and thus to practice violence.
The study recommended that a national conference be organized to
discuss the causes of campus violence and its consequences. The presence of
the police inside the university campus is necessary. As well, the decisions of
boards of disciplining students in universities should not be undone under the
effect of any external interference.
