This study aims at identifying the extent to which domestic violence is
related to the residential environment of the families of the students of private
and governmental schools in Bethlehem district. The quantitative methodology
with its descriptive and inferential parts was applied for its suitability for this
type of studies. The study sample was randomly taken following the stratified
way, in terms of variable type of school (governmental, private) . The
sample consisted of (1174) students from (16) Schools in Bethlehem district,
distributed between the villages and cities of Bethlehem; it reached the rate
of (% 18.8) of the research community. A questionnaire was designed and
prepared for the purpose of the study and for collecting additional data. The
students were reported –through the questionnaire- to the aspects of domestic
violence and to demographic details about their families. The results indicate
that the domestic violence is related to the economic level of the residential
neighborhood of the family and to the type of housing the family inhabit. The
domestic violence is related to housing in the neighborhoods of low economic
level as well as neighborhoods of high economic level. The results also show
that the domestic violence is more related to housing in a brick house or in a
tent than it is in a villa or an apartment. The assembly that the family lives in
is not related to domestic violence because of the movements of villagers to
the cities, reducing the gap between the village and the city
