The Behavioral Goals of the Lesson Plans of the Student Teachers at Al-Qasemi Academy

This study aimed at analyzing the behavioral objectives in the lesson
plans of student teachers at Al-Qasemi Academy for teacher preparation at
Baqa Al-gharbiya city, and determining their distribution on the different
domains and on thinking levels. It also aimed at identifying sorts of common
errors in writing objectives. One hundred and forty seven lesson plans
from 49 teachers of religion of Islam and Arabic, English, mathematics and
computer, and early childhood were chosen at random during May 2005 for
analysis. Reliability of the analysis was determined; it reached (0.75).
Results showed that the means of number of objectives of the lesson
plan were (6.3) for regular students and (4.9) for continuing education
students. Also, the results showed that (74%) of the objectives belonged to
the cognitive domain, (18.4%) belonged to the affective domain, and (7.6%)
belonged to the psychomotor domain. Of the cognitive domain objectives,
(82.6%) sought low thinking, while (17.4%) sought high thinking. Results
also showed that most lesson plans contained one or more of the common
errors in the writing of the objectives. Finally, recommendations were
made.
