The Role of Popular Participation in the Projects Carried out by the Elected Local Councils in Jenin Governorate

This study aims at identifying the role of popular participation in the
projects carried out by the elected local councils in Jenin Governorate
considering the members of the local councils with regard to sex, age,
educational level, and the member’s administration position in the local
council.In order to achieve the study objective, both of the researchers
designed a questionnaire with (31) items.
The questionnaire had high validity and a high reliability rate
(0.978), The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of (105) elected
council members; about (68.6%) of the study society.The data analysis
showed that the total rate of the local community members’ participation
in the projects was below medium.Furthermore the total rate of the
role of local community participation in order to come considerable
projects implemented by the elected local councils in Jenin Governorate
is below medium.The findings also showed no significant differences in
the sample responses according to gender, age, educational level, and
administration position at (a = 0. 05) .
The analysis showed a significant and strong positive correlation
between the degree of popular participation in the projects carried
out by the local councils and the role of this participation in
succeeding implemented projects from the point of view of elected
council members.
