Combating Poverty in the Islamic Economy
Keywords:
Combating Poverty, Islamic EconomyAbstract
The present study deals with the ways Islam deals with the problem of poverty through the Quranic verses and Sunna traditions. The practices of the orthodox Khalifs who applied Islam comprehensively had shown that, during their rule, poverty disappeared. The study hence, focuses on the means of combating poverty by the Islamic economic system.
The study concluded that if Islam is properly and comprehensively applied to our reality, the problem of poverty will be totally solved and irradicated because of the diversity of means that treats such a problem. Nevertheless, if the Islamic states continue to seek solutions for their poverty problem outside the Islamic economic system, the problem will persist.
