The Topic of Imprisonment in Umayyad Poetry

The study investigated the relation between prison and prisoner in Umayyad poetry and its psychological and social impact on those who experienced jail life using descriptive and analytical methodology. The image of prison and prisoner, instruments used for torture, the reasons behind imprisonment and prisoner’s poetry were all highlighted.
