The Modern Leadership Characteristics and their Effects on the Performance of Leaders: A practical study on the System of Project Implementation in Housing in Libya

This study aims to identify the modern leadership characteristics and
their effects on the performance of leaders, through specifying the effect
of the following personal characteristics: “gender”, job title, experience,
qualification, on the modern characteristics of management leadership which
is active in decision–making, active communication, objectives management,
time management and change management.
The two researchers used the descriptive and analytical methodologies,
and in order to achieve the study objectives, the researchers have designed
a research questionnaire which has been distributed to the study samples.
The total number of filled questionnaires was 329 including (managers, head
departments, and employees) . The SPSS was applied to analyze the data of
the research.
The study has concluded some of important results, including that
the max. Percentage of respondents practiced the high level of leadership
characteristics, where a small percentage of respondents not exceeding 12.
5% of study sample were using leadership characteristics at a low level.
The change management characteristic is the lowest level of leadership
characteristics compared to others, where the objectives management
and active communication were the highest level of characteristic among
management leaders.
The study suggested some important recommendations such as;
improving the modern leadership characteristics with low availability among
respondents’ paying attention to improving their skills through intensive
training until they have clear vision about the modern characteristics of
leadership management, and its motives, impacts, and outcomes: this will
help them later to use these skills in executing operational programs and
applying them in organizations easily and swiftly.
