The Real Situation of Social Responsibility for Al- Quds Open University Students and a Suggestive Proposal Based on Social Service to Enhance it

This study aimed to know the real situation of the social degree
responsibility for Al- Quds Open university students and to specify the impact
of all the following: the academic program variables, the place of residence,
the gender and the scholastic year on the degree of the social responsibility
for Al- Quds Open University students. The study also tried to put forward
the proposed notion for a program based on serving the group to develop its
members. The two researchers chose a random class sample consisting of 500
students from both genders in the educational areas in northern West Bank.
The researchers prepared an instrument represented in a questionnaire to
measure the social responsibility for Al- Quds Open University students. The
questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first one included primary required
data and the second included sections which measure the social responsibility
for Al- Quds Open University. The number of the items in these sections
amounts to 58 distributed on four main domains. These are: the personal,
religious, ethic, social, group and national responsibilities.
The study arrived at the following results:
1. There are no differences of statistical significance on the variable of the
gender.
2. There are differences of statistical significance on the variable of the
place of residence between the village and the camp in the favor of the
first group and between the city and the camp and it was for the favor of
the first group.
3. There are no differences of statistical significance for the variable of the
scholastic year.
4. There are differences of statistical significance on the variable of
the program between the social development and the economic and
administrative sciences which was in favor of the first group and between
the economic and administrative sciences and education and it was in
favor of the second group and between education and the social and
family development and it was in favor of the second group..
