The present study is concerned with verifying the biography of the poet
Sadr Ad-Dian Mohammad Omar, also known as Ibn Al-Wakil, ( died in 716AH
). It sheds light on his character and acquaintantances; it starts with a brief
introduction about him including his name, penname, and title, date of birth,
education, occupation, scholars, family, writings and death.
The researcher gives also a description of the two accredited manuscripts:
that of the National Library of Tunisia and the published copy in the book
named “Alwafi Bilwafayat” by Salah el-Din As-Safadi ( died in 764 AH ) He
explained the difference between these copies and reproduced the text in a
way as close to the original as possible.
