This study explores the issue of violence against the elderly and their
psychological, social reactions in the social affairs departments in the
West Bank governorates. For this purpose, a questionnaire was prepared
and designed comprising of seven main dimensions and 37 items. A random
sample of 930 elderly was carefully selected. The findings of the study showed
that there are differences in statistical significance between the extent
of financial abuse and the extent of moral, social abuse, and negligence.
There is also a statistical relationship between the severity of all kinds of
abuse; the emotional and social, financial, societal and negligence, and the
severity of the psychological reaction. The researchers recommend that much
focus on the female elderly be made by means of creating treatment groups
to help them deal with violence practiced against them. The researchers
finally recommended holding workshops by social workers in all social
organizations.
