The Extent of the Care of the Local Community Institutions in the Southern West Bank Camps to Meet the Needs of the Elderly in the Service Areas provided to them from the Vewpoints of those Working in Them?

This study aimed at exploring how efficiently the local community institutions care for the elderly in the south of the West Bank camps from the viewpoint of those working in them. The population and sample of the study consisted of all the administrators, professionals, and workers (n = 240) in the five camps found in the provinces of Hebron and Bethlehem.
The main question of the study was: To what extent do the local community institutions in the southern West Bank camps meet the needs of the elderly in the service areas provided to them from the viewpoints of those working in them? The sub- questions derived from this main one focus on the main aspects of elderly care by those institutions and the differences in the care level in light of the experience, gender, post, province and camp variables, and the social, health and psychological dimensions.
The descriptive method was used in this study. A 38-item questionnaire measuring the performance of the local community institutions of the elderly care in the social, health and psychological areas was developed based on reviewing the previous literature. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were verified.
The results revealed that a good level of meeting the social and heath needs of the elderly by the local community institutions (3.54) and an average level of meeting their psychological needs (3.37).
The res ults also showed statistical differnces between the social and psychological care in javor of social care and between psychological care and health care in favor of healthe care.
The study also showed the statistical differences in social care are due to geographical variables and the differences in social and psychological aspect are due to the variable of job position.
