The Palestinian issue formed a major part in the Palestinians poetry
topics which talk about the dimensions of the Palestinian issue and its
events during the history inside the country and outside it. It also records
its events, its peoples’ suffering, their Diasporas in the camps and caves.
There were many poets who talked about the Palestinian refugees’ issue and
their suffering. This study focuses on the (Image of the Palestinian refugee in
Haroon Hashem Rasheed’s Poetry) in his collection of poems “Al- Ghoraba”
as an example.
The study gives a brief hint about the poet’s life who was a contemporary
of Al Nakba events and he lived through its difficult situation. It was full of
sadness on Palestine and its people. Then, it talks about the refugee’s social
situation in Rashid’s poetry and his assertion to return and struggle. Then, it
talks about the poet’s longing for his homeland.
In this study, I followed the literary analytic approach which depends on
studying the phenomenon through the poetry written by the poet which talks
about the refugees and their suffering in their exile.
