This study aimed at identifying the relationship between the importance degree of the supervision approaches and supervisors, practice degree as perceived by educational supervisors. The population of the study consisted of (132) male and female supervisors distributed on six educational directorates in the northern districts of Palestine. The researcher used the survey descriptive methods as it is the most suitable for such studies. The researcher also used a questionnaire, which included seven important methods of supervision, as an instrument for the study. Processes of validity and reliability were conducted: the questionnaire reliability of the aspects of the importance degree ranged (0.80-0.91), the overall reliability of the importance degree was (0.96), the reliability of the importance degree ranged (0.85-0.93), the overall reliability of the practice degree was(0.97) - a high figure which meets and fulfils the purposes of the study. Recurrences, percentages, means averages, deviations, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were used as statistical analytical methods.
This study showed the following main results:-
1. There is a medium correlative relationship between the importance degree of the supervision methods and the degree of the educational supervisors’ practice of these methods, as the correlation variable of importance degree and the practice degree ranged from (0.465) to (0.601).
2. Classroom visits got the first rank in term of the importance degree and the practice degree as perceived by the supervisors. Educational workshops got the second rank and school visits came third, whereas the operation(action) research got the sixth rank in term of the importance and the seventh rank in term of the practice degree.
3. There was high correlative degree between the importance degree of the supervision methods and their practice degree in favor of the supervisor’s gender, profession, experience and qualifications.
The researcher recommends the following:-
1. The necessity for evaluating the supervisors’ performance and developing the scientific instruments and methods which are dedicated for such purposes. This is where to start off for identifying their training needs and then planning and carrying out the training programs which are necessary for developing and upgrading their performance.
2. The necessity for qualifying the newly appointed educational supervisors.
