Abstract

This research attempts to reveal the relationship between the novelist,

Gharib Asgalani’s work and heritage and the heritage sources on which he

based his novel,“Mazyuneh’s Sons” through discussing the following themes:

the characters, popular- folk tales, expressions, and traditions.

The research ended up with the following conclusion: There was a close

and sincere relationship between Asgalani and heritage. Asgalani looks to

heritage as an important source of inspiration and it is an indispensable

feature for his work. This relationship is not based on simulation or

reproduction of heritage as it is; it is based on deep interaction with its

elements for the purpose of developing and exploiting its artistic features

in the contemporary novel and delivering its psychological and emotional

dimensions to recipients.
