Abstract

This study aims at identifying the reasons for the employees’ resistance against the organizational changes in the Palestinian ministries. The study has also focused on the different administrative steps the administration followed in order to overcome this resistance to change; In addition, the study has attempted to identify the demographic factors that have lead to this resistance.

The population of the study consisted of 400 people; all of them are directors in the Palestinians Ministries in the Gaza strip. A questionnaire has been used to collect data. In the study analysis, frequency, percentage, means and one way ANOVA T. test, person correlation scatter plot and LSD test were all used.

 

Results and Recommendations:

1.      Results have shown that the reason for the employees’ resistance against organizational change at Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Interior and Social Affairs is imposing the change by force.There fore, the researcher recommends that employees participate in planning and executing the change program process and that administrations should avoid using the dictatorial system in applying the change.    

2.      Results have shown that the reason for employees resistance against organizational change at Ministry of Youth and Sport and Ministry of Communication is the fear of losing reward, Hence, the researcher recommends that the employees on whom the change plans will be applied should be rewarded, and their salaries and rewards should be modilied.

3.      Results have shown that the reason for employee’ resistance aginst organizational change at Ministry of Agriculture is ignoring the human aspects Thus, researcher recommends that human aspect inside the Ministry should be regarded and the employees’ feeling when applying the change should also be taken care of.

4.      Results have shown that the reason for employees’ resistance against organizational change at Ministry of Housing is the inconvenient time for change. So THE researcher recommends that the change plan should be explained AT the beginning and ending time should be confirmed in participation with the change executers.

5.      The researcher recommends FARTHER studies to verify the reasons the researcher got which stand behind employees’ resistance AGAINST organizational change.
