Means of Enriching Symbols and Connotations in the Palestinian Resistance Poetry - Lotfi Zaghloul as a Model

Decoding means such as symbols and heritage are techniques commonly
used in contemporary Arabic poetry and in Palestinian poetry in particular.
These means help the poet express what he wants implicitly instead of
explicitly expressing his meaning. This helps the recipient go under the
surface to get the deep meaning of the text. This way of expression gives
the text creativity and great impact. This is the method usually followed by
contemporary poets. Thus a big number of Palestinian poets have dedicated
their poetry for defending the Palestinian issue since the occupation of
Palestine since 1948.
Lutfi Zaghloul is one of these poets who used his poetry as a tool against
the Israeli occupation. Furthermore, he used cultural and symbolic aspects to
give his poetry more impact, richness, and affectiveness. Therefore, the study
poses two important questions:
1. What is the advantage of using symbols and heritage and what is their
affectiveness?
2. What are the reasons which made the poet resort to these means?
