Abstract

The study aims at ascertaining the Measurement Invariance or Equivalence of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support MSPSS across sex among Palestinian university students. We deploy the lines of the descriptive approach. Thus, to achieve the objectives of the study, we make use of Zimet et al. (1988) which was distributed to a random cluster sample of 383 students with 125 students and 258 female ones. In order to ascertain the estimation of factor models, WLSMV was used through Mplus.7. The results indicate that Measurement invariance or equivalence can be  achieved across sex, with Configural invariance, Metric Invariance, and Scalar or Strong invariance. Moreover, the values of the difference between matching indicators were less than (Δ ≤ .01), according to Chen (2007). The results have also shown the attainment of the tripartite structure in accordance with the theoretical basis, depending on the Exploratory Factor Analysis: EFA and Confirmatory factor Analysis: CFA. The conformity indicators showed high valuable values in accordance with the admission to the (χ2= 94.745*, df=51, RMSEA= .047, CFI= .997, TLI= .996). As the results of the study revealed ascertain, Convergent Validity and Discriminant Validity, the results revealed the achievement of internal consistency of Scale MSPSS, depending on the method of McDonald's Omega coefficient worth .906, In a word, the study recommends the application of Scale MSPSS in those studies on Palestinian university students, especially those which aim to ascertain validation gender differences
