Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the relationship among happiness, hope

and optimism. In addition, the study aimed at specifying the proportional

significance for each of these variables in interpreting happiness among a

sample of Al -Quds Open University students. The sample size consisted of (187)

students, (103) males and (84) females. The study tools were implemented on

the study sample in the courses lectures. The results showed that happiness is

connected with the other variables and the correlation coefficient values were

positive, statistically significant and in the expected direction. The results of

the multiple regression analysis showed that both hope and optimism variables

contributed in interpreting the variance in the sample member’s points on

happiness measure. Optimism variable contributed heavily in interpreting

the variance in the sample member’s points on happiness measure. Optimism

variable interpreted about (%45.2), (%43.2) and (%45) of the total sample,

male sample and female sample respectively while hope variable interpreted

about (%7.1), (%4) and (%12.2) of the total sample, male sample and female

sample respectively.
